Name: Jane Litchfield

Jane was born in Sri Lanka in 1945 to an American father and English mother. As a child she lived in Japan and in several eastern and midwestern states in the United States. Her talents as an artist emerged at the age of five wherein her family encouraged her to paint and to draw.  They were later to discover that she could do anything creative and artistic.

Over the years Jane has taken art classes in the Santa Barbara  schools in which she attended. Upon  her graduation from High School she was enrolled at Chouinard’s School of Art in L.A. where she was to study Costume and Dress Design. After her education in art, Jane married her High School sweetheart. They have been married for over 46 years and have had four children.
 
Jane has taken the fine art education she received in school and has taught children art for the past 30 years. While her children were still young Jane also went to Santa Barbara City College to study Dress Making and French Draping. As a result she has sewn and designed costumes professionally for many years.

Most recently Jane was a partner in owning a gallery which featured only local Santa Barbara Artists. She and her business partner still take individuals to the homes and the studios of  local artists. She is currently on the Board of Directors of the Arts Fund of Santa Barbara and has mentored Elementary and High School Students. Jane is a member of the Santa Barbara Studio Artists and is presently giving private lessons to adults in various mediums.
